So what is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a state of relaxation (of varied depths) where the mind and body are completely relaxed and at ease.
Will I bark like a dog, cluck like a chicken, or tell you my deepest darkest secrets?
No, not unless you really want to. When in hypnosis you are aware of everything that is going on. You can choose at any time to open your eyes and stop the process.
What does it feel like?
Most people feel wonderfully relaxed. You may feel that your body is heavy and that you simply cannot be bothered to move. You may drift in and out of your own thoughts, sometimes hearing your therapist sometimes not.
Will I get stuck in a hypnotic state?
No. You, may not want to return to full wakefulness as you feel so marvelously relaxed, but everyone comes back to the here and now.
I can't be hypnotised, it doesn't work
Most people who relax and choose to go with the process can be hypnotised. If you do not want to be hypnotised, then you will not. Remember, the therapist cannot make you do, or say, anything that you do not want to.
